Wells Fargo is seeking a highly skilled Lead Engineer to join the Enterprise Observability Engineering organization. This role will lead the design, development, and engineering of enterprise observability solutions supporting application performance monitoring, distributed tracing, telemetry collection, and AI-enabled operational intelligence.
The successful candidate will provide technical leadership for cloud-native observability platforms including Splunk Observability Cloud (SPLOC), AppDynamics, Dynatrace, OpenTelemetry, and related telemetry services. This role requires strong software engineering expertise combined with deep knowledge of observability technologies, cloud-native architectures, and enterprise-scale monitoring solutions.
In This Role, You Will
5+ years of Software Engineering, Infrastructure Engineering, Platform Engineering, SRE, or related experience.
5+ years of hands-on experience developing enterprise applications using Java and Spring Boot.
3+ years of hands-on experience with enterprise observability platforms including Splunk Observability Cloud (SignalFx/SPLOC), AppDynamics, or Dynatrace.
Strong experience designing and developing microservices and RESTful APIs.
Deep understanding of OpenTelemetry, distributed tracing, telemetry pipelines, and observability concepts.
Experience deploying and supporting applications on Kubernetes and containerized platforms.
Experience with MongoDB or similar NoSQL databases including data modeling and performance optimization.
Experience with Kafka and event-driven architectures.
Strong understanding of enterprise monitoring, application performance management, and reliability engineering practices.
Proven ability to lead complex technical initiatives and influence engineering decisions across organizations.
Experience implementing OpenTelemetry solutions at enterprise scale.
Experience designing and operating large-scale observability platforms.
Knowledge of GenAI, LLMs, AI Agents, AIOps, and intelligent operational workflows.
Experience integrating observability platforms with ServiceNow, automation frameworks, and incident management solutions.
Experience with OpenShift and cloud-native platform engineering.
Experience supporting large-scale modernization, migration, or cloud transformation initiatives.
Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure as code, and DevSecOps practices.
Industry certifications in Splunk, Dynatrace, AppDynamics, Kubernetes, OpenTelemetry, AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.
