Unified Payables is a joint Treasury and Payment Solutions (TPS) and Corporate Payment Systems (CPS) priority. Its goal is to give middle-market clients one integrated, intelligent experience to manage, control, and optimize their payables from invoice through reconciliation.
This leader will be the dedicated product voice for Unified Payables. Responsibilities include defining the product construct and minimum viable offering, leading pricing and packaging, and working with Sales, Strategy, Technology, Operations, and Risk partners to bring differentiated solutions to market at pace. The role also leads the Faster Payments product team and is accountable for growing RTP® and FedNow® Service capabilities and advancing emerging digital payables solutions. This role requires strong vision, decisive execution, and the ability to lead independently in senior forums across business lines.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Unified Payables Strategy and Product Ownership. - Own the Unified Payables product vision, roadmap, and success measures with CPS product leadership. Tie them to measurable client outcomes: working capital and days payable outstanding (DPO) optimization, straight-through processing, faster reconciliation, and paper-to-electronic conversion. - Define the product construct, minimum viable offering, and target-state capabilities across AP workflow, ERP and accounting connectivity, supplier enablement, multi-rail payment execution and orchestration, controls, reconciliation, and data-driven insights, informed by client research and voice-of-customer findings. - Manage the full product lifecycle. Combine existing TPS and CPS capabilities, such as supplier payment optimization, supplier management and assurance, virtual card, and a common client access point, into one coherent offering, and rationalize, or retire overlapping products and platforms. - Lead build, buy, and partner analysis and the evaluation of fintech and vendor partners. Develop business cases, opportunity sizing, and investment requests with Strategy and Finance.
Commercialization, Pricing and Go-to-Market - Own the P&L for Unified Payables and instant payments, including revenue, profitability, pricing, and investment prioritization. Set and report key performance indicators to senior leadership, including client acquisition, cross-sell penetration, wallet share, and adoption. - Lead product packaging, bundled pricing, and contracting with Pricing, CPS, and Legal partners, and secure governance approvals. Partner with Sales to launch and scale cross-sell campaigns across the TPS and CPS client bases, equipping sellers with positioning, sales plays, and training. - Build supplier acquisition, enablement, and retention strategies to grow electronic and card acceptance across the supplier network.
Emerging and Faster Payments Portfolio - Lead the instant payments portfolio (RTP and FedNow) as a business. Grow client adoption and the use case pipeline, and deliver a commercialization and modernization roadmap with a consistent client experience across instant payment rails, partnering with sales, product, and embedded payments teams across U.S. Bank. - Identify, evaluate, and incubate emerging payables capabilities and partnerships, and represent U.S. Bank with clients, partners, payment networks, and industry bodies. Risk, Controls and Governance - Make sure products operate within U.S. Bank's risk appetite and comply with applicable federal and state laws, regulations, and payment network operating rules. Manage product, vendor, and partner risk through established enterprise processes, including PRISM, BCI, and third-party risk management (TPRM), and coordinate legal review of all supporting collateral and documentation. - Build fraud prevention, controls, and audit readiness into product design and client experiences from the start.
People Leadership - Lead, coach, and develop a team of product managers. Set clear ownership, priorities, and performance expectations, build talent and succession depth, and create a culture of accountability, pace, and collaboration across TPS, CPS, and partner organizations. - Represent the portfolio in senior leadership forums, steering committees, and product governance routines, and make and drive decisions independently.
